The College of Medicine has commenced the implementation of Case-Based Discussions & Progressive Learning Activities (CBD-PLA), which relies on the discussion of medical cases using active learning methods. The program includes first-year students in addition to second- and third-year students.

Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Riyadh Mustafa Murtadha, accompanied by the Scientific Assistant and the Director of the Medical Education Unit, conducted field visits to the small student groups during the first session of the program to observe the implementation methods and monitor student engagement with the educational activities.

During his meeting with the students, the Dean emphasized that the program contributes to developing critical thinking and scientific analysis skills, fosters teamwork and brainstorming, and gradually and systematically links basic sciences with clinical aspects, thereby reinforcing the concept of holistic and humane patient care.

This initiative is part of the College’s vision to advance medical education methods and adopt modern educational programs, aligning with international academic standards and accreditation requirements, with the ultimate goal of preparing graduates who possess high levels of competence, knowledge, and professional skills.
